Selected Work · Book Creator & Kami

Fourteen years
of work: a curated
view.

I have over 18 years of experience in the design & web industry alongside 14 years of product design, branding and web-based work that I could share - but I didn't want this page isn't an archive. It's a curated selection from my time at Book Creator and Kami: three projects that sit alongside the deeper case studies, chosen because they show breadth, craft, and the kinds of decisions I make when the problem space is genuinely complex.

Each one is intentionally chosen to be here, no padding.

01 Product Design · 2025

Certification

The old certification design was outdated and lacked the updated Book Creator branding that had been implemented over the years. Utilising (and adding to) the existing and not-yet-fully-formed design system, I incorporated elements from various recent projects to create a new, fully branded experience within the app. We went from an outdated, clunky experience to one that was fun & had little extra elements of delight weaved in from start to finish.

02 Product Design · Profile & Personalisation

Profile Updates

One of the key parts of our app has always been deprioritised, and that is allowing our users to update their profile. Being in the education space, we are given data about schools and districts we can utilise. To encourage our users to update their details, I designed a more fun, branded experience that made them enjoy what is normally a boring, annoying task. Plus, as I love to do, we added a little surprise & delight in animations (that were accessible and respected reduced motion settings!) when they finished the process.

Sign-in Improvements

Our existing sign-in flow was a little clunky, outdated, and didn't include our newest branding. When we had to update the logo due to other work, we saw an opportunity to refresh the pages. Another bug-bear, due to the way the app was architected many years ago, meant that we had to have a profile switcher between Teacher and Student login pages. We brought the sign-in cards up-to-date and, on the Teacher login page, added a call to action to encourage new users to learn more instead of simply leaving.

Discover

This section shows additional process and UI work from Discover, beyond what appears in the case study. Throughout this page I have also included the odd Figma screenshot to show you the level of documentation I can provide - not all projects or features require it, but I was also working with a new Engineer for parts of this work and wanted to make sure they had all the details they might need. Documentation and a common understanding between teams is so important to me and can make all the difference in how smoothly new features and improvements are released.
